Sven has lost the plot, part 8235

He wants to play Jamie Carragher as a holding midfielder. Now, I have a deep and abiding love for Carra, but even so I have to say: What. The. Fuck.

Apparently he did play as a defensive midfielder for the England under-21s, but that was at least six years ago. Why play him out of position when you've got players in the squad who actually fill that role on a regular basis? Admittedly Michael Carrick wasn't exactly convincing against Belarus last week, and Owen Hargreaves looked as useless as everyone (read: me) says he is. But then again, you could argue that's because he was -- wait for it! -- playing out of position as a right-back.

I do hope this latest experiment works, though. From a tactical perspective, it makes sense to free up Steven Gerrard to go forward, rather than trying to sit back and cover for Lampard. Plus, it'd be nice to see Carragher pick up a few more caps.

Still, I have to wonder if Sven heard that Wayne Rooney's recovery isn't going as well as they'd hoped, threw up his hands in despair and decided to just wreak as much havoc as he could before he's done.
