Premiership Weekend Roundup: December 2-3
Just a brief update this week, because I'm fighting the cold of doom in an attempt to get healthy before I have to get on a plane to Tokyo for 14 hours...
Middlesbrough 1 - 2 Manchester United
United didn't make it easy for themselves, but they notched another crucial win, thanks to Darren Fletcher and his wee Scottish mullet, and Cristiano Ronaldo and his difficulty with gravity. Was the penalty a penalty? Probably not, because I didn't see any contact from the goalie. But I don't think Ronaldo dived, either -- or if he did, he's gotten a lot better at it. It looked to me like he just stumbled and the ref saw it as a foul, and you can hardly expect United to protest the decision.
Wigan 0 - 4 Liverpool
Now I know why Liverpool haven't been able to score away from home this season. They were saving up all their goals for this one game. It could've easily been more than four, too, if Craig Bellamy hadn't been flagged offside so many times. (Drink!) Just a hint for next time, boys: try for a happy medium.
Arsenal 3 - 0 Tottenham
For some reason I was expecting a draw from this game. Oops. You could tell from the minute the teams came out of the tunnel that Arsenal were really up for it, and Tottenham just weren't. They got outplayed all over the pitch, even with Thierry Henry pouting from the stands. I think both penalty decisions were questionable at best, but even so Arsenal played well enough that they deserved the win.
